3rd International Composition Competition for Symphonic Band

 

Performers: The competition aims to enhance the repertoire of original music for wind orchestra. All styles and musical forms are accepted. The orchestration of the work must not exceed the following instrumentation :
2 flutes (C)
2 oboes (C)
1 Eb soprano clarinet
Clarinets (Bb)
1 bass clarinet (Bb)
2 bassoons (C)
2 alto saxophones (Eb), 1 tenor saxophone (Bb), 1 baritone saxophone (Eb)
3 trumpets (Bb or C) and/or cornets (Bb)
4 horns (F)
3 trombones including 1 bass trombone
2 euphoniums / baritone-bass saxhorns
1 tuba (C) and/or 1 double bass (Bb)
Timpani
Percussion (for maximum of 4 percussionists) The orchestration may include the following optional parts :
1 piccolo, 1 English horn (F), 1 double bassoon/contra-bassoon, 1 or 2 flugelhorns (Bb), 1 string double bass, 1 harp and/or 1 piano (non concerto).

duration: The duration of the work must be between 8 and 10 minutes.

 

for who: The competition is open to participants of all ages and from all countries.

deadline: 31 July 2007

 

prizes: 1st prize : €10,000 ; 2nd prize : €5,000 ; 3rd prize : €2,500.
The jury may also award special prizes and commendations.
